But there's an unmistakable feeling of it being so close but not quite. ) over two days and 100%ed it across the board. I played it for 11 hours (8 hours game, 3 hours cannon minigame. This makes it sound like I didn't like the game. The only time it really felt like a true joy to play was after getting the 100% cape, and by then the game is over. World navigation is fine, but never great. Like, shooting never quite seems satisfying, puzzles never really go the extra mile. and the XNA limitations with respect to just the Steam Overlay being generally iffy, the controller support being kinda weird, etc. The gameplay, the UI, and level design are surprisingly rough around the edges. I agree with the Super Bunny Hop review (it could be 5 minutes shorter and not lose anything though) - the game is good, it's beautiful, it's great to listen to, the story is good, the characters are good, but it's just not quite there. Thus far the game's closest comparison is to a nicer version of Aquaria, which is another game I enjoyed. Not sure if I'm missing a type of coins-source, or if I'm just bad at finding them. As for the coins, I notice I'm missing large quantities of them, in spite of having made an effort to seek them out. Would have been nice to have gotten an in-game explanation for it. I don't know what all the different types of food do, or if they even make a difference. I really hope that isn't going to be a thing I have to worry about.

The camera panning can be a little slow at times, and already made me fly into a flock of off-screen enemies once. I've got one or two things though that I'm not sure about. Moving around in the game feels good, and I can see the moveset can grow into some cool throwing, spinning, catching and shooting combos. I can't wait to see where it scales up to, because I'm fully expecting well-integrated puzzles at this point. The dungeon itself was a little simple, but it felt like the designer understood what made a good dungeon. The presentation is just infinitely likeable. The game is absolutely gorgeous, and I love its characters and characterisation. Started it last night and finished the first dungeon.
